At Paradise Farm, we offer adults and children an opportunity to develop a real relationship with their agricultural heritage and the food they eat, through experiences grounded in meaningful work and hands-on exploration.

When folks come to Paradise Farm, a non-profit farm education program, they have an opportunity to deepen their experience with hands-on learning, reap what they have sown, and eat what they have harvested. They get to know the plants and animals at the farm. It is truly place-based education at its finest. We work with teachers to integrate our farm curricula with the students' study of language arts, mathematics, social studies, science and other subjects across the curriculum.

Some of the experiences adults and kids have enjoyed at Paradise Farm:

Gardening (planting and harvesting)
Cooking
Fire building
Composting
Vermiculture
Soil Study
Pond Study
Garden Art
Civil War Dancing
Animal care
Natural plant dyeing
Wool felting
Honey bee care
Cider pressing
and more!

Paradise Farm education program is run by Mary O'Connell, early childhood educator for over 20 years, Training Coordinator for LifeWays North America, author of Observing Young Children; A Tool for Meaningful Assessment and co-author of Home Away From Home: LifeWays Care of Children and Families with Cynthia Aldinger. Mary and her husband, Jim, are the current stewards of Paradise Farm. You can read the story of how this farm program came to be by clicking on the link below.
